Reducing Resource Consumption

Reducing the environmental footprint of our buildings doesn’t stop at construction.

Through careful design, material specification and exploration into alternative construction types such as prefabricated panels (SIPs), we seek to reduce the resource consumption and construction waste generated while our projects are on site.

But reducing the environmental footprint of our buildings doesn’t stop at construction. While it is important to build using renewable, recycled and recyclable resources and support low energy and local businesses and manufacturers, we also believe that our buildings should be low impact to run and consequently, low cost to live in.

Consideration of this aspect of the building begins at the very beginning of our design process, through setting up an environment that requires minimal heating and cooling.

The installation of water tanks, solar panels, grey water treatment systems and technologies such as solar batteries, heat recovery ventilation systems and heat pumps help to minimise ongoing resource demand throughout the life of the building.
